In a recent College Times issue we celebrated Year 7 Creative Writing student Lily S. having her story published in the August Edition of “Oz Kids In Print”. Since then Lily has won a writers award for her short story “Untitled”.
On the 26th of November, Glenda Porter and Debbie Sartori were kindly invited by the Children’s Charity Network to attend the awards night held in Melbourne and had the pleasure of being on Lily’s table with her family and friends. The winning art works on display were stunning, it was a wonderful night , and we are very proud of Lily. To view the winning art and stories go to:
'It was a fantastic night. Young Australians from all over Australia came to be presented with their award at the Bayview Eden ballroom. The works there were absolutely amazing. There was so much talent. There were authors there and special people to present the awards. I received the Helen Handbury Achievement Award, which her son Paul presented me with, since Helen is no longer with us. I met a very friendly author there, who was extremely encouraging about me continuing to write. Overall, it was an experience I will never forget and I am extremely grateful that I got the opportunity to go to such a prestigious event and win an award like that.’ Lily S.
