The Instrumental Music program is a key element of the Lara Secondary College extra curricular offerings. Classroom music, private lessons, musical productions and ensemble & band participation are part of the broader social importance of the College.
Music enables students to develop broader educational experience and develop artistic and creative talents. Involvement in the instrumental music program provides students with co-operative learning opportunities and enhances their personal and social development.
Instrumental music lessons are available to all interested students who are then able to be involved in ensemble and / or College bands. There are many performance opportunities available to students and include events such as Lunchtime Concerts, College Information Evenings, Assemblies, School Productions and Instrumental Music Evening.
Participation in the Instrumental Music Program gives students an opportunity to share their passion and present their skills to a wide range of audiences both within the College and in the wider community. At the same time students of like mind can meet together to share their interest and improve their skills.
Through participation in the Instrumental Music program students are:
- Guided to develop a love of Music.
- Encouraged, via the pursuit of excellence, to achieve their personal best through the development of self-discipline.
- Challenged to stimulate and develop their aesthetic awareness and explore their creativity.
A wide range of instruments are available for tuition:
- Voice (Singing)
- Guitar/Bass Guitar

- Wind Ensemble
- Saxophone Ensemble
- Junior/Intermediate/Senior Rock Bands
- Drum Circle
- Vocal Ensemble
- Guitar Ensemble
